TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. DEFINITIONS
"Folklore", "we", "us", or "our" refers to Folklore Murder Mystery Events operated by Michael Drysdale.
"Services" refers to our murder mystery gaming experiences, corporate training programs, and related entertainment services including Monster Hunt, Hollywood Masquerade, and custom game variants.
"Client", "you", or "your" refers to the individual or organization booking our services.
"Event" refers to any Folklore murder mystery experience, training session, or related gaming service.
"Storyteller" refers to our game facilitators who conduct the murder mystery experiences.
2. SERVICE AREAS AND AVAILABILITY
2.1 Primary Operating Area
Our standard service area covers Perth Metro Area within approximately 16km radius of Perth CBD, encompassing areas from Joondalup to Rockingham.
2.2 Extended Service Areas

Within 5km beyond primary area: Additional $50 travel fee applies

Beyond extended area: Travel fees quoted case-by-case basis (recent example: Dwellingup $150)

Interstate/International: Available by special arrangement with travel costs and accommodation at client expense
3. BOOKING AND PAYMENT
3.1 Booking Process

All bookings must be confirmed in writing via email or through our official website booking system

Booking is confirmed upon receipt of signed agreement and required deposit

We reserve the right to decline any booking at our discretion
3.2 Pricing Structure

Social Events: $40 per player
-
Corporate Events: $1,000 per group (maximum 15 players per group)

Venue Partner Events: Tiered pricing (1 ticket $70, 2 tickets $60 each, 3+ tickets $50 each)

Custom Games:

Reskinning existing games: 2x-3x standard rate

New game creation: Individual quotation based on complexity and development time

Corporate Training Programs: Individual quotation

Multiple Groups: Up to 45 players across 3 concurrent groups with multiple storytellers
3.3 Deposits and Payment Terms

Social Bookings: $80 deposit required

Corporate Bookings: $500 deposit required

Payment Methods: Credit card via website, bank transfer when invoiced directly

Final Payment: Due prior to event commencement

Late Payment: We reserve the right to withhold services if payment is not received prior to scheduled event time
3.4 Group Size Requirements

Minimum: 10 players per group

Maximum: 15 players per group
-
Multiple Groups: Available for larger events up to 45 total participants
4. CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY
4.1 Deposits
All deposits are non-refundable regardless of cancellation timing.
4.2 Client Cancellation

More than 24 hours before event: Deposit forfeited, no additional charges

Within 24 hours of event: Full event fee may be charged at our discretion

Day of event: Full event fee applies
4.3 Folklore Cancellation

We reserve the right to cancel events due to circumstances beyond our control

Full refund provided if we cancel

We are not liable for consequential losses resulting from our cancellation
4.4 Participant No-Shows
We will modify gameplay within reasonable bounds provided sufficient players remain to conduct the experience effectively.
4.5 Force Majeure
Events may be postponed or cancelled due to extreme weather, government restrictions, health emergencies, or other force majeure events. Rescheduling offered where possible.
5. EVENT REQUIREMENTS AND CONDUCT
5.1 Venue Requirements

Indoor venue with sufficient space for all players to sit comfortably in a circle

Minimum 3-hour time allocation

Adequate lighting for reading reference materials

20 minutes setup time required
5.2 Age and Participation Requirements

Minimum Age: 18 years (valid ID may be requested)

All participants must be capable of engaging in strategic social gameplay

Participants must treat all players and facilitators with respect
5.3 Content Warnings
Our events involve:

Social deduction requiring deception and accusations between players
-
Simulated murder/death themes within game context
-
Potential for heated discussions or conflict within gameplay
-
Medieval violence themes (Monster Hunt) and 1920s crime themes (Hollywood Masquerade)

Strategic gameplay that may be challenging for some participants
5.4 Alcohol Policy

Alcohol consumption is permitted but not required

Responsible service principles apply

Given the strategic demands of gameplay, minimal alcohol consumption is often optimal

Participants showing signs of excessive intoxication may be removed from the event
5.5 Participant Conduct and Removal

Physical contact, aggressive behavior outside game context, or harassment will not be tolerated

Participants under excessive influence of alcohol or drugs may be removed

Removal Process:

Immediate pause of game if necessary

Private discussion with participant

Warning or modification of participation

Removal from venue if behavior continues

No refund for removed participants

6. HEALTH, SAFETY AND ACCESSIBILITY
6.1 Medical Emergencies and Participant Distress

7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND MATERIALS

Participants may not record, reproduce, or distribute game materials

Commercial use of our intellectual property is strictly prohibited

Participants may not retain any game materials post-event

Replacement costs apply for damaged or unreturned materials
7.3 Custom Games

Custom games developed for clients remain intellectual property of Folklore

Clients receive usage rights for their specific event only

All custom game elements become part of Folklore's intellectual property portfolio
7.4 Storyteller Training and Restrictions

Trained storytellers work exclusively for Folklore events

Storytellers may not conduct independent murder mystery events using Folklore systems

Breach of exclusivity may result in legal action
8. PHOTOGRAPHY, RECORDING AND MARKETING
8.1 Event Documentation

We may photograph and record events for social media and marketing purposes

Participants consent to such documentation via booking process checkbox
-
Individual opt-out requests will be honoured where operationally feasible
8.2 Testimonials and Reviews

Google reviews and client feedback may be used for promotional purposes

Client testimonials used with permission

Individual removal requests will be processed promptly
8.3 Participant Recording

Participants may not record events without express written permission

Unauthorized recording may result in removal from event
9. PRIVACY AND DATA PROTECTION

10.2 Limitation of Liability

Our liability limited to total fee paid for services

Not liable for indirect, consequential, or punitive damages

Not responsible for personal property damage

Clients responsible for venue damage beyond normal wear and tear
10.3 Equipment Damage

Clients liable for replacement cost of damaged Folklore equipment

High-value items (e.g., storyteller tablets) must be replaced if damaged by client negligence
11. SERVICE STANDARDS AND QUALITY ASSURANCE
11.1 Service Standards
We commit to providing:

Professional and respectful facilitation

Punctual service delivery

Adherence to agreed event specifications
11.2 Service Issues
If service fails to meet established standards:

Remedies may include partial refund or complimentary future session

Escalation to mediation available if unresolved within 30 days
12. CORPORATE TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

15. GENERAL PROVISIONS

These terms constitute entire agreement between parties

15.2 Assignment

Clients may not assign booking rights without written consent

Folklore may assign rights to related business entities
15.3 Amendments

15.4 Sever-ability

If any provision is deemed invalid, remaining provisions continue in full effect

16. ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND ACCEPTANCE
By booking Folklore services, making payment, or participating in our events, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions in their entirety.
These terms protect both our business interests and ensure clear expectations for all parties. We recommend reading them carefully and contacting us with any questions before booking.
